Draft overview of the national ground source heat extraction in 2023 is shared here. In all, 4238 wells with a total length of 1032 km was drilled providing an estimated capacity of 56 MW, with a total yearly thermal energy addition of 186 GWh to be served the national energy system each year. Since the 1980s a total of nearly 700 MW of heat power available at demand equating to around 2.2 TWh heat has been developed. All other factors equal, this thermal power and yearly energy frees out the same amounts of electrical energy for other, more valuable, purposes. In addition, the peak demand at the coldest hour, that is the key design parameter of the electrical energy system, is reduced as ground source heat is available also the coldest hour the coldest year.

The new program plan was agreed upon during the steering committee the 23th of May. The purpose is to create value for the partners - but how may that be done?
